Description: A rooted plant with oval leaves about 1.5 to 5.5 inches long and 0.8 to 2.5 inches wide that float on top of the water.
It is characterized by a jelly-like substance on the underside of the leaves and the submerged portions of the plant. The tops of the leaves are green while the undersides are a reddish color. Water shield provides habitat for invertebrates, which are eaten by fish and waterfowl. |
