Description: A legume with prickly, much-branched stems forming a small shrub on rocky upland sites in semi-arid areas. Fruit may be armed with stout prickles. Flowers are showy, pink and puff-ball shaped. The leaflets have a tendency to "fold up" when handled. It is sometimes browsed by whitetailed deer and livestock. |
