Description: The state tree of Oklahoma. A small tree with a broad rounded crown and a short trunk, typically found in shaded areas such as forest understory, but also in open areas. Redbud is a legume with fruits maturing in late summer that may remain attached into winter. Is widely planted as an ornamental because of its numerous, showy purplish pink flowers covering twigs in the spring. |
