Description: Introduced from China as an ornamental shade tree. Spreads from roots and can escape cultivation. Very hardy, grows in waste places and under adverse conditions. Can cause allelopathic effects on other plants. The leaves, which are ill-smelling when crushed, are poisonous and can cause dermatitis in some individuals when contacted.
