Description: A small to medium-sized evergreen tree common to widespread on a variety of sites. Often planted in shelterbelts and for visibility screens. The fruit is eaten by birds and some mammals, and is sometimes used as a seasoning when cooking food. Cedar oil is used in medicines and perfumes. The wood is resistant to decay and is used for lumber and furniture. Is an aggressive invader on our rangelands due primarily to the suppression of fire. Does not re-sprout if cut or killed by fire.
