Description: A large tree that can grow to over 80 feet in height. The broad leaves can be 4 to 14 inches in diameter with some small hairs on the surface. Sycamore bark is smooth with areas of peeling. An identifying characteristic of the sycamore is the ball-like flowers and fruit which are 1 to 2 inches in diameter. Sycamore is commonly found along streams and rivers but is also used as an ornamental. It is important to many wildlife species such as turkeys (roost) and wood ducks (nest cavity).
Chemical Control Options: Triclopyr, picloram, imazapyr or glyphosate, but control usually is not needed.
Mechanical Control Options: Cutting is only temporarily effective due to regrowth from root buds.
Biological Control Options: There is not a good biological control option.
