Description: A shrub occurring in open areas along creeks, edges of woods and roadsides where soils are moist and well-drained. Fruit 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch maturing mostly yellow to red. Fruit is eaten by humans and many species of birds and mammals. Excellent wine and jelly can be made from the fruit as well. Leaves may be browsed by white-tailed deer during the summer. Also commonly called Creek plum.
