Description: A tree occurring in swamps, along rivers and streams, and other moist sites . Often planted as an ornamental near lakes and ponds as well as upland sites. In wet and frequently inundated areas, the roots produce woody projections called "cypress-knees". Bald cypress lumber is decay-resistant, even when in contact with soil.
