Description: Most common in moist pastures and along streambanks and ditchbanks. The lower stems are flattened and the leaf blades are as much as 0.5 inch wide. The spikelets typically take on a reddish appearance. Some wildlife species may use the seed and it is of fair forage value to cattle.
