Description: Typically occurs on upland soils and is very similar in appearance to Little bluestem but with a split inflorescence. It is found mostly in the eastern half of our area. The basal leaves curl at maturity and young sheaths have a maroon color. The inflorescence is split, usually forming a "V." It provides nesting cover for some wildlife species. It is a poor forage for cattle. |
